Materials:
- Magnetic door catch- as many as you need depending on how many cabinets you plan to install them in
- Power drill
- 2-4 screws per catch, depending on the type of catch you purchase
Steps:
- You will want to start by marking the spot inside the cabinet where you want to place the magnetic side of the catch. You can choose to install it at the top or bottom, but it needs to be on the side opposite the hinges. Close the cabinet door and mark the inside where the spot you made lines up with the unmarked side.
- You will then center the magnetic side of the catch above or below the mark on the inner part of the cabinet. This will depend on whether you chose to place the catch at the top or bottom. Next, you will need the power drill and a cross-head screw.
- Place the cross-head screw into the catch and use the power drill to secure the catch. Then, taking the metal nonmagnetic side of the catch center it on the mark made on the cabinet door side. Repeat the process of using a power drill to screw this piece into place on the cabinet door.
- Be sure that the pieces are lined up and that the magnetic catch is working. You can then repeat this process as many times as you need for each cabinet drawer.
These easy, simple steps with improve any
cabinet. They provide a safe, efficient, sleek effect for your cabinets. If you
are looking to update your cabinets, try using magnetic door catchers.
