How to turn your bathroom into a mini spa

We all deserve a little time out to relax and put our feet up, however not everyone has the time or money to escape to a luxury spa. So here’s the perfect solution - create your own mini spa at home!

Every once in awhile we need to escape from the hectic stresses of everyday life. Here are a variety of ways that you can turn your very own bathroom into a mini spa, perfect for an afternoon of relaxation and pampering.

Turn off your phone
We are a nation addicted to our smart phones, but this is not the time or the place to be on your mobile. You want to feel at ease and to do so you need to completely block out the stresses of everyday life. More importantly, you don’t want your afternoon at the spa being interrupted. Turn it off.

Set the mood
Before you get in the tub, you must do a little preparation. In order to completely relax you must create the right mood. A spa wouldn’t be complete without some scented candles and relaxing music.

The beauty of having your own spa at home allows you to have full control over these factors. Choose a scent that helps you unwind but make sure it isn’t too overpowering. When it comes to music try and choose something that you can listen to for a long period of time, you don’t want to be getting out of the tub to change the track.

Make your own treatments
Why spend money on pricey spa treatments when you can make your own natural skin care products home?

There are a variety of recipes online that you can use to pamper your body and soothe your soul. You’ll find that most recipes are made up of ingredients that you could already have around the house.

Invest in a bathrobe and comfy pair of slippers
After an hour of relaxing in the tub, there’s no better feeling than wrapping up in a soft robe and stepping into a pair of comfy slippers.

Go for a lightweight easy to wear robe and some waffle slippers, when it comes to colour go for white just like they use in the high end spas.

How to know when is the perfect time for replacement of an air conditioner

The winter days have passed and now spring is knocking on the door. All the time one is feeling trouble free about each and everything. The mild and soothing air is blowing and fresh smell of flowers is reaching homes. But  hold a bit have one checked its old air conditioner? Is it running properly as after a few days only it will be needed immensely for taking a respite from hot and humid climate. If the answer is affirmative then there is no more problem knocking on the door. But what if the air conditioner is not running at all or is broken down. How does one know that the time for replacement of air conditioner has arrived ?

When last time the air conditioner machine was used have anybody noticed any trouble with it. Or else saw some trouble before packing it in winter times and thought that it will be dealt when time will come. But now checking the machine shows that it has run past its time or else needs immediate repair and which if not taken with enough seriousness then the problem can  cause replacement of air conditioners.

The first and immediate action that is to be taken is to check with the recharging of central air conditioner. This can prove a respite from replacing of an air conditioner, if the machine is less than 10 years old and has not had any major repair before. If the case is not such than repairing the refrigerant is not a good idea as its cost mounts up depending on the age of the machine and ultimately one have to go for a new one. So, better to replace the machine before hand only rather than adding up the double amount of money for repair and replacement.

How can one ascertain that the air conditioner that is running is now not good for anything ad its better to go for the replacement of  the air conditioner with a new machine?  The answer not simple but is not hard also to understand.  In any type of machine especially those which needs to fill up air or gas such as AC’s or refrigerator those life cycle goes down with time and age. So, naturally pouring a lot of money to fill the refrigerant is not worthwhile.

May be one feels that its longevity can be achieved but if notice is taken then one can see that the electricity bills go upward. Hence with the repair bills the high electricity consumption is  now added one doesn't get the desirable effect of the old and repaired machine as it was thought so. Naturally one could have bought a new air conditioner with the money that has gone down the drain in repair and electricity bills.

Nowadays new air conditioner offers energy saving in the form of green technologies. This is very essential not just for showcasing a new term but for the practical sense as it has a direct and immediate impact on the electricity bills. The older air conditioner machines take more time than it actually needs for the cooling effect and so every time it is turned on more and more electricity or energy is wasted. But the if a replacement of air conditioner is done in time with a new one than the impact of low usage of electricity consumption will be felt immediately.

The common man when buys some machine from the market its seen as a long term investment for them. So, comfort if hampers a little bit then they go for repair and as there are numerous repair centers then its not such a big deal for them to grab it. But if accountability is to be taken into then the investment increases day by day with added amount of repairing and extra electricity bills. This added amount of investment in a purchase can be brought down if timely replacement of that broken machine is dealt with. A small time  repair is perfectly required and needed but not when it comes to costly parts or fully hauling the machine. Then the only solution is going for replacement rather than repair and more so in an air conditioner. The best and only option for a smart consumer can be replacement of air conditioner for energy, money and time saving rather than blocking them.

Fascia Installation Guide

Fascia is the name for the horizontal boards that are nailed across the edge of the roof, behind the gutters on your house. Many people choose to install aluminium fascia panels over their original wooden fascia boards to help protect their house from heavy downpours of rain and other poor weather conditions. Aluminum fascia is more durable and protective than the wooden alternatives available.

If the fascia on your house has become damaged for one reason or another, then it is important to replace it. This can be done by a professional, but you may want to have a go at doing it yourself to save on costs. Installing fascia can be a little tricky, especially for beginners that do not have experience in placing fascia correctly. Follow our simple instructions below to help you carry out the job in minimal time.

Installing roof fascia can protect your house from damaged caused by rain and poor weather.

Preparing the fascia

Before you can begin installing your fascia you will need to make a few preparations. First you will need to measure the width from the eaves of the roof to the bottom of the joist. You will need to climb up a ladder to do this so make sure that you have set it up and secured it properly first. Once you have recorded the measurement, mark it onto a piece of fascia board using a pencil.
You will then need to lay the fascia board down on a flat surface and line up the mark you have made with the blade of a circular saw. The aim is to guide the saw along the mark so that you create a straight cut down the fascia board.

Installing the fascia

To begin installing the fascia you will need to line it up with the side of your house and hold it in place. You will then need to insert two screws into each joist by using a power drill. You may require the help of someone else to steady the fascia board whilst you drill in the screws. One screw needs to be drilled through the top of the fascia board and then the other screw needs to be drilled through the bottom of the fascia board and into the joist.

Once completed, you will then need to move down to the next joist and drill into two more screws. Continue to do this in the same way as you did for the first piece of fascia. This process needs to be carried out for each piece of fascia, until it has been installed all the way around the sides of your house. It is important to make sure that you have cut each piece of fascia board to size for each side.

The purpose of fascia

Fitting fascia boards to your home can help protect the rafter and joist ends from all types of poor weather. Years of exposure to poor weather can often leave your home exposed to damp, condensation and decay. These are all things that can put people off purchasing your home in the future and may result in you having to lower the asking price or make expensive repairs. By keeping your rafter and joist ends in good condition through installing fascia, you can save yourself a lot of unnecessary hassle and expense.

Today fascia is a lot more aesthetically pleasing than it used to be. It can even be used to add a decorative touch to your property.

The great thing about installing fascia is that it does not require any heavy maintenance. You may just need to give it a wipe over every now and then to keep it looking clean. Using PVC cladding will benefit your home in the long run as you will not have to worry about rot appearing nor will you have to fork out for paint. It will also add value to your property. In the past people were often put off from installing fascia on their houses, as it looked unsightly, however today companies offer fascia in all sorts of materials and colours so that they complement the style of different houses and can actually add to their aesthetical appeal.

Installing New Magnetic door Catchers

Cabinet doors without a catcher in them can slam shut, making a loud annoying sound but also causing danger of getting fingers caught in the door. Installing magnetic door catchers onto your cabinets can make them much less of a hassle, and in addition to improving efficiency they are easy to install and inexpensive. Here’s how you can install your own magnetic cabinet catchers.

Materials:
  • Magnetic door catch- as many as you need depending on how many cabinets you plan to install them in
  • Power drill
  • 2-4 screws per catch, depending on the type of catch you purchase
Steps:
  1. You will want to start by marking the spot inside the cabinet where you want to place the magnetic side of the catch. You can choose to install it at the top or bottom, but it needs to be on the side opposite the hinges. Close the cabinet door and mark the inside where the spot you made lines up with the unmarked side.
  2. You will then center the magnetic side of the catch above or below the mark on the inner part of the cabinet. This will depend on whether you chose to place the catch at the top or bottom. Next, you will need the power drill and a cross-head screw.
  3. Place the cross-head screw into the catch and use the power drill to secure the catch. Then, taking the metal nonmagnetic side of the catch center it on the mark made on the cabinet door side. Repeat the process of using a power drill to screw this piece into place on the cabinet door.
  4. Be sure that the pieces are lined up and that the magnetic catch is working. You can then repeat this process as many times as you need for each cabinet drawer.
These easy, simple steps with improve any cabinet. They provide a safe, efficient, sleek effect for your cabinets. If you are looking to update your cabinets, try using magnetic door catchers.
